The Moor Natural Play Area
The play area was made from natural tree trunks and includes a water wheel design which links to the old water mill that once stood nearby.
We designed a play area and seating for Dacorum Borough Council which is located near the Grand Union Canal.
Children can let their imagination run wild here! Climbing, balancing, jumping and crawling in nature.
The Detail:
The trail section of the structure rises out of the ground in several places and continues until it joins a bespoke simulation of a buried water wheel made from oak timber. The water wheel doesn't move but makes a nice historic connection to the old mill. Leading from the wheel, the trail timber rises until it connects to a large vertical tree trunk that has a spiral of stepping branches around it.
This creates a challenging climb to the top and once at the top, children can see the whole structure which will look like alarge branch from the crown of a huge tree. The structure is accessible to all ages but will be particularlyappealing to younger children from the age of 3 onwards

We wanted a play area that would engage children and introduce them to the historical significance of our location. The design not only provides a fun and imaginative space for our little visitors but also serves as a subtle educational tool, interpreting the archaeology of the site in a way that is both engaging and meaningful.
